After graduating from Milby High School, Mary Ann worked her way through college, earning a degree in Business Administration from University of Houston Downtown. She went on to build a successful insurance agency located in Southeast Harris County. While busy with her career, she was never too busy for her two sons or her neighborhood. She was an active Little League and school volunteer, and served as President of the Meadow Creek Civic Association.
Since being elected to the Houston Community College Board of Trustees in 2009, Mary Ann worked to move HCC and our community forward by partnering with area employers to ensure the programs reflect the needs of today’s workforce. She worked with area schools and community groups to develop programs to keep children in school and continuing their education. As an HCC trustee, she held an annual job fair at the Southeast campus in partnership with Metro and local elected officials as well as partnered with HEB to provide free flu shots for the Community.
Mary Ann has seen firsthand the repercussions of the budget cuts and will fight hard to ensure that all the residents of District 144 have the opportunity to raise a family in communities with good schools, safe neighborhoods and a strong economy. Being the caring leader, Mary Ann is committed to improving the quality of life of all the residents of District 144.
